The Candid Group B.V. (hereinafter: Candid). is committed to Your privacy. Therefore, we have created a Privacy Policy describing how we collect, use, disclose, transfer and retain Your personal data. Please take a moment to review our Privacy Policy.

Personal data collection and use

Personal data is any data that can be used to identify or contact someone.

When You contact Candid or any of Candid's member firms, You may be asked to provide Your personal information. Candid and its member firms, each of which is a separate legal entity, may exchange and use such personal data among themselves in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

You are not required to provide the personal information we have requested. If You choose not to do so, however, in many cases we will not be able to offer You services or answer any questions You may have.

Here are some examples of the personal information the Candid may collect and how it may be used.

The personal data collected

When You sign up for a Candid newsletter, contact us, or participate in an online survey, we may collect various information, including Your name, mailing address, phone number, email address and/or contact preferences.

Candid enables you - through our website www.candidplatform.com or (in some cases) through a third party's website - to register for events. Personal data may be collected via the registration forms for those events, whereby the type of data collected varies for each registration. Candid may provide data regarding the registrants in connection with the event to third parties. Examples of "third parties" are hotels, (co-)funders, the promoters of the event, event organizers (also in case of registration via third party websites), speakers, panelists, etc. To fully understand how Your data may be used and retained, we recommend that You consult the specific information provided for each individual event.

Through our website You can apply for one of our vacancies. Further details on the recruitment and selection procedure and the data required in this context can be found in the relevant section of our website.

Use of Your Personal Data

The personal information we collect allows us to keep You informed of new press releases and upcoming Candid events. If You do not want to be on our mailing list, You can remove Your name at any time by updating Your preferences.

We may also use Your personal information for internal purposes such as audits, data analysis and research to improve Candid's products, services and customer communications.

Special categories of personal data

Candid does not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (sensitive personal data) through the Website, unless we are legally obliged to do so in certain circumstances, for example for recruitment and selection purposes. Sensitive personal data includes data on racial or ethnic origin, political opinion, religion or philosophical belief or trade union membership; genetic or biometric data, if processed for the sole purpose of tracing them back to a natural person; data on health; data on sexual life or sexual orientation; and, in some cases, BSN numbers or financial data.

Personal data of children

This website is not intended for use by children. Candid recognizes the importance of protecting information about children, especially in an online environment, and we do not knowingly collect or store information about children (users under the age of 16).

If You are concerned about Your child's privacy with respect to our services, or if You believe Your child may have entered personal information on our website, please contact us at legal@candidplatform.com. We will remove such information from our records within a reasonable period of time.

Cookies and other technologies

Candid's websites and email messages may use cookies and other technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons. These technologies allow us to better understand user behavior, see which parts of our websites have been visited, and measure and increase the effectiveness of email messages and website searches.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small pieces of (text) information that are stored on the hard disk or in the memory of Your computer, tablet and/or cell phone (hereinafter: Peripherals) when visiting our website. Cookies placed through our website cannot damage Your Peripherals or the files stored on them.

A cookie is a piece of technology that allows our website to store certain information (an "identifier") in Your browser and is only applied while You are visiting our website. Cookies are not used to determine the identity of anyone who merely visits our Web site. Cookies help us keep track of site traffic so that, for example, we can determine users' preferred location and language and direct them to the correct homepage when they visit our website.

Cookies can be used for even more purposes. For example, cookies can also be used to ensure that participants in online surveys cannot cast their vote more than once.

On some pages of website, cookies are used to map areas of interest based on Your surfing behavior, so that we can better understand what is important to You and we can target You with more relevant content.

As with most Internet services, certain data is collected automatically and stored in log files. This includes IP addresses, browser type and language, Internet provider, referring and exit pages and applications, operating system, date and time stamps, and click behavior data.

We use this information to understand and analyze trends, administer the site, track users' behavior on the site, improve our products and services, and gather demographic data about our users in general. Candid may use this information for its own marketing and advertising services, provided You have given express consent.

In our e-mail messages, we sometimes use a click-through URL to content on Candid's website. When customers click on one of these URLs, they are directed through a separate Web server to the destination page on our Web site. We track this click-through data to determine what topics Your interest in and to measure the effectiveness of our communications with customers. If You object to this, You must ensure that You do not click on text or image links in email messages.

Pixel tags allow us to send e-mail messages in a format that is readable to YOU and to see if YOU have opened the e-mail message. We may use this data to send fewer or no messages to customers.

Please note that from time to time our website or email communications may contain links to third-party websites, products and services to which this Privacy Policy does not apply. For example, it is possible that You may be directed to third-party sites for more information (such as about our events, content sponsorships and social networks).

Candid is not responsible and makes no guarantees regarding the storage and use of Your personal data on third-party servers. We encourage You to take note of the Privacy Policy on the website of any third party to which You are directed from us if You wish to know how Your personal data is handled.

What types of cookies does Candid use?

Candid uses several types of cookies, for which Your permission is requested to place them on Your Peripherals. For this purpose, Candid Group uses Piwik PRO's Marketing Suite.

For example, like any website, we collect IP addresses from our visitors. These are stored in so-called log files. The log files are stored on the web server for 5 days so that they are available to Piwik PRO. After that, the log files are kept for 90 days for security reasons only and are also only viewed for that purpose.

Candid has taken measures to minimize the traceability of visitors to our website. We do this by discarding the last 2 octets (digit groups) of each IP address immediately after importing the log files into Piwik PRO. This is done in a temporary memory before the IP addresses are saved in Piwik PRO. Thus, your IP address is anonymized.

We collect the following data with the log files:

Piwik PRO gets this data from the log files of the Web server. These log files remain in the Piwik PRO database for 31 days. After that, they are deleted. All that remains is an aggregated (merged) log file. This gives us an annual report on website traffic.

Listed below are the types of cookies Candid Group uses:

We use these cookies to monitor how well our website is performing and what improvements we can make, to analyze which pages are most visited, how visitors arrived at our website and which search terms are used in our search engine;

With these cookies, we are able to test small changes in the website with different groups of users. The results of these tests allow us to present a better website to all users of the website;

With these cookies we are able to track when You perform certain actions on our website in order to better understand how You use the website and to improve Your experience with our website;

With these cookies, we are able to personalize content on the website for certain groups of visitors and tailor it to your interests;

With your permission, we place a cookie on your peripherals, which is recognized as soon as you visit a website in our network. This way we are able to show you relevant content on other websites in our network.
