We like to introduce our colleagues to you. In this interview we introduce Jaimy, Jr. Digital Communications Consultant at STROOM Amsterdam.
Who are you?
I am Jaimy, 23 years old, and was born in beautiful South Limburg where I lived until March this year. South Limburg has now been exchanged for bustling Rotterdam where I live with my boyfriend.
How do you fill your position at STROOM?
I have been working as a Jr. Digital Communications Consultant since May. I am responsible for creating integrated media plans and strategies together with our offline consultants. This allows us to surprise our clients with a complete media plan that achieves or even exceeds the client's goals.
What did you do for this?
I received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Maastricht in International Business: Strategic Marketing. During this period I was also lucky enough to live and study in Barcelona for a while. After this, I worked at Mollie for 1.5 years as a Business Support Specialist in Maastricht. Here I was responsible for assisting customers with the Onboarding process and other questions. Besides the regular work, I took on extra tasks to expand my knowledge and experience. For example, I was a member of the 'Social Committee' where I was responsible for organizing and promoting events in Maastricht. I was also a Guest Trainer for a while and specialized in the payment method Klarna, the product 'Mollie Capital' and 'Ecurring'. In short, I was (and still am) not sitting still.
What are your growth aspirations?
Besides media, I would like to develop further in the field of marketing and branding strategies. I developed a great passion for this during my studies. In particular, I find the neurological "tricks" that you can use in the marketing and media world enormously interesting to apply and to keep learning more about.
What energizes you in your work?
I get a lot of energy from exceeding customer expectations, continuing to learn new things and challenging myself. I also get energy from my colleagues. Besides the hard work, it is of course also important to be able to switch off from work every now and then and have a nice chat.
What do you get energy from in your free time?
In my free time, I get a lot of energy from being with my friends, discovering new activities, restaurants and stores.
What is your favorite meal?
I love food immensely and therefore do not necessarily have a preference for 1 meal. However, I am a fan of Italian, Spanish, Indonesian and Thai cuisine.I can therefore enjoy extensive dining and eating out in a good restaurant. However, you can also make me happy with a bag of chips.
What is your favorite type of vacation? And vacation country?
I get very excited about a vacation where we explore the whole country combined with "relaxation days," on the beach, for example, in between. My favorite vacation countries (so far) are Thailand, Bali, Spain and Greece. This summer Portugal is still on the schedule, which might be added to the list!
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is still Acrobatic Gymnastics. I used to spend a lot of time doing this and it remains a beautiful sport to watch (unfortunately I am now too "old" to practice this sport). At the moment I am still looking for a new sport that is comparable, but this is proving to be quite a challenge.
Which medium are you most a fan of?
I spend a lot of time scrolling on Social Media looking for the cutest memes, for example. I am also a fan of watching a good series on Netflix. Finally, since I spend quite a lot of time on the train, I also enjoy listening to a podcast at these times.
What is your favorite quote?
"If you want something done right, do it yourself."
