Who are you?
My name is Masah Fofana, 28 years old and I am in my graduating year of Cross-media Communication at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. In the summer I am going to graduate, and as part of that I am doing a five-month internship at STROOM.
How do you fill your position at STROOM?
As a Content Marketing intern, I am mainly collecting information and writing articles. I take care of the placements of all social channels and maintain the website. In short, creating content for the website & social media channels of STROOM. In addition, I come up with content ideas. We also have a weekly Marketing meeting, where we determine the content calendar and discuss other marketing projects Herein I can apply my cross media knowledge in practice.
What did you do for this?
Before this I studied media editing at the Rijn IJssel in Arnhem. During this education I gained a lot of knowledge about (social) media and journalism. I think this course fits well with the study I am following now, because the media world is very broad. I also did internships at other companies. For example, as an editor for a celebrity news site in Utrecht and a Dutch/English expat magazine in Eindhoven. I learned about news writing, photography and content during these internships. I am now applying this experience during my internship at STROOM.
What are your growth aspirations?
I would like to advance in the communications profession. My interests now lie in content marketing and online marketing: I learn something new every day and STROOM is a good internship site for that. I would like to grow in copywriting. I have a passion for that!
What energizes you in your work?
I just started at STROOM, so there is still a lot to learn here. In any case, it is extremely instructive to watch the specialists and consultants, to see how media campaigns are created. It gives me energy.
What do you get energy from in your free time?
What I get a lot of energy from is music and taking walks through cities or towns I've never been to. That's why I like to travel by train and walk everywhere at my destination. It gives me a lot of energy that I can now enjoy traveling every day to a city like Rotterdam where it is so diverse and innovative. Thanks to STROOM I can discover all this. I also get energy from the Eurovision Song Contest. I am always curious about new European acts and who will win.
What can people wake you up at night for?
I prefer not to be disturbed at night, but if I get to go on vacation to African and Scandinavian cities, I certainly won't skip it
