Vincent Marquenie

STROOM introduces: Digital Communications Director Vincent

We like to introduce our colleagues to you. In this interview we introduce you to Vincent, Digital Communications Director at STROOM Amsterdam.

Who are you?

Vincent Marquenie, I am 32 years old and live in Amstelveen. There I live with Lianne and Jonah who turned 1 in November.

How do you fill your position at STROOM?

As Digital Media Director, I am responsible for all digital activities at STROOM. This includes team leadership, product development and strategy. You also provide a bridge to the more traditional media so that our strategies result in well thought-out 360-degree plans. There is a lot going on within the digital landscape and changes and developments are ongoing. That is why it is important to keep a close eye on what is and what is not relevant and how we can serve our clients as well as possible.

What did you do for this?

I have been a Director since 2016, before that I was a Digital Consultant at Media Maatschap and before that I spent some time at Quisma (GroupM) as an Account Executive. In an even more distant past, I was a rose picker (removing weeds from roses) and called people to take phone surveys for research purposes.

What are your growth aspirations?

Further developing and growing the digital team. I enjoy zooming in on people's personal ambitions and talents and then forging that into a bigger picture to create a strong performing team with intrinsic motivation. We now have a very strong team with which we can deliver Online Marketing from A to Z, so think Search Engine Marketing, Display, Online Video but also guiding Influencer projects and Branded Content.

What energizes you in your work?

Actually what I am talking about above, I always like to see when people can express and use their talents and feel good in their job because of it. When this results in good work with which we convince our clients and results speak for themselves, it gives me a lot of energy and provides a breeding ground to take the next steps.

What do you get energy from in your free time?

Music is a big part of my spare time, so I regularly play all over the country with my band 'The Night Flight'. With that we provide a full evening show with all known hits and sing-alongs in combination with a visual spectacle.

What can people wake you up at night for?

Just don't, there's a little one running around at the moment so I'm happy with every minute of sleep there is ;).

Favorite quote?

If you stay ordinary long enough, you will naturally become extraordinary.
