From a historical thriller and time management tips to short-term resolutions and better conversations. Our colleagues, Matthijs, Stefan, Samantha and Tamara share their must reads for this fall.
1. Fokking Pressure - Thijs Launspach
In my role as a consultant, many different things come into play. The pressure is always high and full agendas, to-do lists and an endless stream of mail sometimes make it too high. This book has helped me in applying focus. The book helps in prioritizing. Focusing on the most important priorities keeps me working with full energy for my clients and myself.
In this book you will read how to create peace and space in your mind despite a high workload and experience the feeling of busyness less. Highly recommended!

Matthijs Kloezeman, Sr. Communications Consultant
2. Empire - Robert Harris
Besides my cool activities as Communications Consultant at STROOM , I also enjoy my free time. Through a good book, for example. Empire is an example of this. This book combines history with political power games and also refers with a wink to events on the world stage in the 21st century. My fondness for the history of the Roman Empire also plays a role in this, of course.
The book is about the life of Marcus Cicero, a Roman politician. In breathtaking fashion, the author takes you through how Cicero grows into history's most brilliant and eloquent lawyer. With his dreaded, biting wit, he fights his way to the absolute center of power in Rome to run for Consul.

Stefan Hendrikx, Communications Consultant
3. Small habits - Bj Fogg
I love to keep learning as a person and improving myself. Sometimes the improvement I want to achieve is too big and quickly seems unattainable; because with willpower alone you won't make it.This book has taught me to start with small goals. That way you have a solid starting point (routine) and it is easier to develop it into that bigger goal.
Forget short-term good intentions. Forget guilt. Improving your life is much easier than you think!

Samantha Catsburg, Agency lead
4. Socrates on sneakers - Elke Wisse
In my work I am in frequent contact with colleagues and clients. During these conversations I always try to listen to my interlocutor as much as possible. This book gave me more depth and depth, especially by asking the right questions. It made me think in a humorous way, and definitely improved my skills for asking good questions.
Highly recommended!
