STROOM continues to grow and we welcome two new colleagues. They are happy to introduce themselves to you!
Who are you?
My name is Gino Zandgrond, 35 years old and I live in Capelle aan den IJssel, where I was also born and raised. I come from the online marketing and have accumulated more than 10+ years of experience there in different roles. Outside of work I can really enjoy sports, podcasts and music. Since August 1, 2021, I am joining STROOM as Sr. Digital Communications Consultant.
I am Friso van Terwisga, 23 years old and a third year student at the Hogeschool Rotterdam. As part of the Global Marketing and Sales course, I am doing a five-month internship at STROOM. In the weekends I can often be found on the water in Zeeland on our sailing boat.
How do you fill your position at STROOM?
Gino: As Sr. Digital Communications Consultant, I provide my clients with advice on digital issues. I also work with other specialists to develop digital campaigns and coordinate the execution of these campaigns. For example, I look at how we can make the efficiency, effectiveness and platform choice of the online strategy appropriate to the sometimes already implemented offline strategy.
Friso: Central to my work as a Content Marketing intern is taking care of STROOM content. This means that I write texts and try to generate publicity for STROOM. In addition, I rotate with consultants to really learn the media management and consultancy profession.
What did you do for this?
Gino: In my previous position, I was Marketing Manager at digital agency Wirelab in Amsterdam. My main tasks and areas of focus were creating, overseeing and executing marketing strategies. In addition, I was responsible for managing the marketing team. Before that, I was co-owner of Seventh Media, a digital agency based in Rotterdam for 7 years, focusing on complex B2B marketing issues. My accumulated experience enables me to make efficient, valuable and strategic choices for the clients of STROOM in the digital field.
Friso: Before this, I received my Jr. Accountmanagement diploma at the Kronenburgh MEAO in The Hague. As part of this education I did sales-oriented internships at, among others, BigBrands in Rotterdam. A company that handles both business and private furnishing projects.
What are your growth aspirations?
Gino: Building a nice client base with A-brands. I also want to continue to develop my knowledge in the field of media as broadly as possible and link my marketing knowledge to that.
Friso: I want to have an HBO degree within two years. I also hope to learn a lot about the media profession from all the specialists and consultants during my internship at STROOM .
Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.
Friso's favorite quote, from Richard Branson
What energizes you in your work?
Gino: Sparring with colleagues, then coming to new insights. I believe very much in the power of teamwork.
Friso: Being able to spread the successes of STROOM to media outlets. In addition, supporting senior consultants gives an enormous kick.
What do you get energy from in your free time?
Gino: Spending time with my family and friends. I also get energy from the occasional challenging activity like boxing or squash.
Friso: Sailing on our boat in Zeeland is the ultimate recharging moment for me.
Success has no value if you can't share it.
Gino's favorite quote
What can people wake you up at night for?
Gino: Heri heri bakkeljauw, a fish dish of my mother's. This consists of bakkeljouw, long beans, cassava and sweet potatoes. You can always wake me up for that.
Friso: You can wake me up for a good cappuccino or evening walk along the Maasboulevard-preferably also in that order.
