Trends 2020

Not TikTok, but socio-cultural trends

In this video, Rutger talks about the underlying socio-cultural trends. Because that's much more interesting than doing "something" with TikTok because it's hot right now. Rutger looks at Generation Z and sees that this group of people interacts with media substantially differently. What matters to them is not which platform, but what you can do with it. Samsung is an example of a brand that responds well to this trend. In all their new campaigns and expressions, it connects to the sentiment of the target group.

The secret of Amazon...

...is long term thinking. In his presentation, Joram from XXS Amsterdam talked about the importance of the long term and how Amazon can use it to crown itself king of online stores. So much is changing in the Marcom industry, so fast, that you have to want to look beyond next week's sales. If you dare to do that, á la Amazon, then you have a great competitive advantage.

The golden tip for 2020

Yes there isn't, but Rutger will give you a hand. If you want to be a game changer, you will first have to start small with watching, testing and measuring. If that works, you're not a game changer right away, but you grow incrementally. What many people don't know is that companies like Netflix do this exact thing. They look at what the target audience wants and respond accordingly. Because the target audience doesn't want to choose, they want to watch. Binging.
